Overview
The Hobbs fractionation complex is located on a multi-acre-site in Gaines County, Texas, between the communities of Seminole, Texas and Hobbs, New Mexico. The Hobbs fractionation complex produces three main products - E/P, propane and bottoms liquids. Via pipeline, Hobbs has the capability to annually ship 2.3 billion pounds of E/P to the INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA Chocolate Bayou Complex in Alvin, Texas to be used as feedstock, 385 million pounds of propane and 770 million pounds of butanes and liquids.
Product and People
With nine employees, the Hobbs fractionation complex takes Y-Grade natural gas liquids through a DeEthanizer. The DeEthanizer processes the liquids into a product called E/P, the composition of which is approximately 80% ethane and 20% propane.
The heavier liquids left over from the DeEthanizer are fed into the DePropanizer. This process fractionates these heavier liquids into 93 to 97 percent pure propane. We sell the propane along with the even heavier leftover liquids, (butane +).
