Carson Polypropylene Plant, Carson, CA

Carson

Overview
The Carson, California plant—located 25 miles south of Los Angeles—began producing polypropylene in 1999.  The Carson polypropylene facility is the largest single commodity exporter on the West Coast, and the second largest plastics exporter in the U.S.

Products and People
Our Carson polypropylene plant can produce more than 500 million pounds of products per year.

We employ 41 INEOS personnel and 52 contractors.

The Carson plant has the logistical advantage of dispatching products to customers directly from the facility via several delivery modes: railcar, bulk truck and packages.  Less than ten miles from the port of Long Beach, the facility generates high-volume export business for INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA.

Vision and Values
Protecting our employees, neighbors and the environment is the top priority for the Carson polypropylene plant.  Our exemplary safety, health and environmental performance (SHE) has earned us an outstanding safety record, which includes zero days away from work cases since start-up in 1999.

We also effectively manage the environmental side of the business, significantly reducing waste water discharge and the corresponding purchase of water.  In addition to leveraging environmental performance for cost savings, the polypropylene plant participates in a biodiversity program.
