Battleground Manufacturing Complex, La Porte, TX

Overview
Located on the Houston ship channel east of Houston, Texas, the 300-acre INEOS Battleground Manufacturing Complex (BMC) was originally built in 1956 to produce high-density polyethylene to feed the growing Hula Hoop craze.  The site now includes a state-of-the-art Polyolefins Technical Center, a 20 MW cogeneration facility, and enjoys direct access to main rail and trucking, and has close proximity to ocean shipping terminal.

Products and People
Currently BMC produces both high-density polyethylene and polypropylene.  The polypropylene line has a capacity of approximately 320 million pounds per year, and the seven polyethylene lines have a combined capacity of approximately 1750 million pounds per year.  The plant employs close to 600 people, including INEOS employees and contractors.

BMC has a state-of-the-art technical center which integrates research and development, technical services and quality assurance.  We’ve received numerous awards in the areas of safety and environmental performance at both the state and local levels, and are multi-year winners of the prestigious Mastio Customer Satisfaction award for both high-density polyethylene and polypropylene.

Vision and Values
Our operating vision is centered around the core manufacturing priorities of safety, health and environmental performance (SHE)…reliability, customer satisfaction, and a commercial focus supported by a team of highly competent and strongly motivated people.

At BMC we believe that the safety and well-being of our employees and community must be the first consideration in how we operate. A strong commitment to safety and health is fundamentally important to making every day a “Perfect Day”, and to the success of our business.  We are deeply committed to operating in such a manner that no employee, supplier, customer or neighbor suffers a loss of any kind.

Community Involvement
BMC has always been committed to being a good neighbor.  We continue our long-time pledge of people involvement and focused funding, encouraging and supporting employee involvement in our community.

The Community Activities Team (CAT)—and other employee-driven teams—manage community involvement and relationships in these outreach areas: safety and the environment; education; civic/community.  By working with—and supporting—the communities in which we operate, we help to improve the environmental, health, social and economic conditions for the people around us.
